MOC Paddlers Triumph

The Marianas Outrigger Club (MOC) achieved a strong performance at the 19th Micronesia Cup held at Matapang Beach in Guam. MOC paddlers dominated the men’s competition by winning the 500m finals and the long distance event, and finishing second in the 1,000m race. Despite not replicating their achievement of sweeping all events from the previous year, the MOC coach, Dino Manning, expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance. The MOC teams consisted of Bobby Cruz, Vince Tudela, Billy Grow, Jose Quan, Ketson “Jack” Kabiriel, Richard Salas, James Lee, Jovano Taitano, Mel Manibusan, Maverick Itibus, and Jason Tarkong. In the 500m race, MOC 1 won with a time of 2:32.5, and MOC 2 finished in fifth place. MOC 2 won the long course event, while MOC 1 came in eighth. In the men’s 1,000m finals, MOC 1 finished second with a time of 5:49.3, just a little over a second behind the champion.
