Marianas Outrigger Club veteran paddler Pipit Ball took on the grueling Singapore Ocean Cup 2024—Singapore’s biggest annual ocean paddling championship race last Saturday. Ball was the solo paddler which guaranteed her first place in the women’s V1 Long Course single craft 14-km race and finished it in one piece with a time of 2:24:32.5 despite the choppy waters and inclement weather. Marianas Outrigger Club veteran athletes Jason Tarkong and Pipit Ball are set to compete in the IVF Va’a World Elite and Club Sprint Championship 2024 in Hilo, Hawaii that will be held from Aug. 13 to 24. The NMI paddlers are heading to Hawaii next Tuesday, Aug. 13, to compete in the V1 men 500m and V1 500m women’s sprints and are calling upon the community for their help and support for their expenses. MARIANAS Outrigger Club President Tim Asaivo said they will send teams paddling across the Saipan-Tinian Channel and will also conduct a youth paddling workshop at Tachogna Beach on May 4.
